Recent events in London

When you hear on the news that the London Fire Brigade had its busiest night since The Blitz, you know something is not right!

I love London. In my opinion it is the greatest city in the world, mostly peaceful and safe unless you go looking for trouble. However last night [Monday 8th August 2011] was different!  This Sunday we are going to pray for our great city, not only for peace to return to our streets, but for the police, fire brigade, and for those in authority, for parents, community leaders, and politicians.

The church in our city has a unique role in providing hope and a model of community life. Hope Church Newham has a vital part to play in reaching out and praying for our city, for peace and healing to come to our streets. We can feel so helpless at what is going on around us but one thing we can do is pray!
